“…1939-1975 when this guy Franco was in charge. There were very few beneficiaries, and Real Madrid was one of them…” O yea? And how is it that it took Real Madrid 15 year to conquer it’s first League title(1954) while Franco was in charge? And how did Barcelona win 5 League titles during those 15 years? Or it wasn’t due to Franco’s personal intervention that Barcelona built Camp Nou ? And what about 1974 when Barcelona honored the dicator by giving him the golden medal of the club? All big clubs have dark pages in their history, Real Madrid and Barcelona are no exceptions. About the referees in the last years…every1 following the spanish league knows that Barcelona is getting rediculous aid. Who can forget the handball of Messi against Espanyol 2 years ago? 100.000 people at Camp Nou and millions in their TV saw clearly what happened…all EXCEPT from the ref who chose to close his eyes that moment, and hadn’t it been for Tamudo Barcelona would have won that League by cheating…cause that’s what 2nd (or 3rd) teams do…they cheat so that maybe one day can reach the greatness of the eternally 1st, Real Madrid CF. Have a nice day, Juan Arango, and keep spreading the Blaugrana propaganda.

Dear Eladir,
With all due respect, it offends the Catalan people to imply that FC Barcelona was ever associated with Franco’s regime, Franco’s troops murdered FC Barcelona President a month after the Spanish Civil War began, at the same time in the summer of 1937 during a tour in Mexico, half of the team stayed seeking political asylum, which was granted by Mexican authorities, FC Barcelona was forced to change its name to the more Spanish Club de Futbol Barcelona (CF Barcelona) it had to remove the Catalan flag from its shield and a close associate of Franco’s regime, Enric Piñeyro, marquès de la Mesa de Asta, was appointed Barcelona’s President, he was not elected by the members, he obviously was very sympathetic to Franco’s regime. So no, FC Barcelona was never voluntarily related to Franco’s regime, and to say so offends our ancestors memories. Please check this linke for further reading: http://www.fcbarcelona.cat/web/english/club/historia/etapes_historia/etapa_2.html
And please, don’t put a link from Madrid’s AS, it is not a reliable nor objective source.

Eladir, you are, like most Madrid fans, the most ridiculous, asinine type of fan that exists. Barcelona aren’t the team cheating. In case you haven’t watched any of Madrid’s games over the past two, three, or more seasons, I can count on my fingers the number of games Madrid haven’t have assistance from the ref. And yes, Madrid were helped by Franco’s regime. In one instance, in the first leg of a competition, Barcelona had creamed Madrid. Before the second leg, the Barcelona players were confronted and forced into losing by an astronomical amount. Yeah, they weren’t the biggest cheats in Liga history…keep telling yourself that.

Eladir, most of madrid fans these days are fans because of the titles madrid have won and not because of their attractive style of play..everyone knows that barca suffered alot during franco’s regime to a point that players’ lifes were in danger..they were not supported by any government which made them suffer financially..madrid had all the support from fascists and their government and at times when barca were better on the field they were threatened..i feel really bad when people argue about that and ignore all these facts i see a bright future for barca because they are bringing young home grown players and have one of the best academies in the world whilst madrid’s last home grown player is probably casillas..
